FG Declares Friday Public Holiday To Celebrate Eid-ul-Mawli

The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, as a public holiday to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid, the celebration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja..

He urged Muslims to use the occasion to reflect deeply on the exemplary life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad, describing him as a model of peace, love, patience, and tolerance.

“On this occasion, I call on all Muslims to imbibe the Prophet’s virtues of love, humility, and selflessness. These values are essential in building a united and prosperous Nigeria,” the minister said.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo also appealed to Nigerians to continue to pray for peace, security, and stability in the country, stressing that the government remained committed to overcoming national challenges.

“As a people, we must stand together and support the government in its efforts to ensure security, economic growth, and sustainable development. Unity and cooperation are the bedrock of progress,” he added.

Eid-ul-Mawlid is celebrated annually by Muslims around the world to honor the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
