Debo Akande Boost Night Trading Activities At Mapo, Oja’oba, Oritamerin, With Solar Powered Street Lights

The Director General of the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), Dr. Adebowale Akande, has facilitated the installation and commissioning of 22 solar-powered street lights along the Mapo–Orita-Merin axis in Ibadan South West Local Government Area. The initiative, aimed at improving safety and stimulating economic activities, covers the historic Oja-Oba market corridor one of the busiest commercial hubs in Ibadan. Speaking during the commissioning, stakeholders noted that the project would significantly enhance visibility in the area, enabling traders to extend their business hours and increase daily earnings. Some market men and women expressed optimism about the immediate impact of the development. “Now we can stay longer to sell. Before, once it got dark, we had to close early,” a trader said. Residents also highlighted the security benefits of the solar-powered lights, noting that improved illumination would help reduce crime and aid local vigilante groups in monitoring the environment. “The dark corners used to be a problem. Now everywhere is visible. It will help security a lot,” another resident stated. The commissioning ceremony was attended by key political, traditional, and community leaders in Ibadan South West LGA. Among them were Baba Nureni Akanbi of the Oyo State Elders Council; the Executive Chairman of Ibadan South West LGA, Hon. Kehinde Akande, represented by his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Hassan Aburyan; and Mr. Kunle Folarin, PDP Chairman in the local government. The Aare of Ofiki Land in Atisbo Local Government Area of Oyo State, Oba Gbenga Adigun Adeoye Oyetunji Oyinlola II, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for prioritising livestock development and farmers’ welfare as the state’s ongoing free vaccination campaign extended to Akinyele, Iseyin and Ofiki communities. The monarch gave the commendation at his palace on Wednesday in Ofiki during the continued rollout of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support [L-PRES] Project vaccination exercise. He described the initiative as timely and beneficial to rural communities. “This programme is highly commendable. It shows that the government is paying attention to the needs of livestock farmers and herders in our communities,” he said. Oba Oyinlola added, “When animals are healthy, the people are also healthy, and the economy of our communities improves. We appreciate Governor Makinde for this intervention and we encourage our people to support it.” Speaking at the event, the Director-General of the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency [OYSADA] and Executive Adviser to the Governor on Agribusiness, Dr. Debo Akande, who was represented by Dr Famakinde Samuel the Animal Health Expert of L-PRES in the state, noted that the vaccination campaign was part of deliberate efforts by the state government to curb animal diseases, improve livestock productivity and strengthen food security. “This vaccination exercise is designed to curb the spread of animal diseases, improve productivity and protect public health across the state,” he said. Akande added that the initiative formed part of a broader national effort under the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support [L-PRES] Project. According to him, “We are committed to ensuring that livestock farmers in all local government areas benefit from this initiative. It is part of a wider strategy to reposition the livestock sector for greater economic impact.” Community stakeholders and beneficiaries also expressed support for the programme, describing it as a long-awaited intervention. The youth head of cattle rearers in Iseyin Local Government, Amusat Lateef Kehinde, said the exercise would significantly reduce losses among herders. “This vaccination will help us reduce the loss of our animals. Many of us have suffered losses due to diseases, so this programme is very important to us,” he said. Similarly, the Seriki Fulani of Atisbo Local Government, Abubakar Gizo, commended the government for extending the initiative to grassroots communities. “We appreciate the government for bringing this programme to our doorstep. It will go a long way in protecting our livestock and improving our means of livelihood,” he said. Also speaking, a livestock farmer from Akinyele Local Government, Abdulahi Garba, said the programme would help prevent disease outbreaks. “This initiative gives us confidence as farmers. When our animals are protected, our business is secured,” he said. Another farmer from Akinyele, Alhaji Yusuf Abubakar, urged the government to sustain the intervention. “We want the government to continue this kind of support. It will encourage more people to invest in livestock farming,” he said. The vaccination campaign, which was recently flagged off in Eruwa in the Ibarapa area of the state, is being implemented by OYSADA under the L-PRES initiative to address the growing threat of livestock diseases. Officials said the exercise targets major diseases such as Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia, Peste des Petits Ruminants, Foot and Mouth Disease which have continued to affect livestock production and the agricultural value chain. The state government disclosed that the programme would be extended to most local government areas, with a target of between 200,000 and 300,000 livestock farmers. Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has ordered the immediate formation of a Livestock Community Committee to identify gaps in the sector and develop a comprehensive investment roadmap aimed at transforming Oyo into a leading livestock hub in West Africa. The directive was issued during a shareholders meeting on Advancing Livestock Productivity and Resilience through the L-PRES Project, a session held as part of the Oyo State International Agribusiness Summit 2025, under the broader theme Expanding Oyo State’s Economy Through Agricultural Industrialization. Speaking at the event, Governor Makinde emphasized the vast potential of the state’s livestock sector, noting that Oyo could not only dominate the Nigerian market but also compete globally if properly structured and modernized. “We need structure; that is the foundation of progress,” Makinde stated. “We must stop exporting our wealth unprocessed. Mini dairies, processing facilities, and value-chain optimisation should exist here in Oyo, not outside the state. We can keep the wealth here if we organise ourselves.” The governor highlighted that the state’s livestock industry currently suffers from “mixed signals,” poor execution, and the absence of a unified strategy. “Execution is our challenge. We have people in this room who can develop the roadmap of where we are and where we want to be. I am instructing you today, form a committee now. Identify the gaps and develop an investment roadmap for livestock in Oyo State,” he directed. Governor Makinde further explained that an investment roadmap would provide clarity on value chains, cost implications, required facilities, productivity targets, and the roles of both government and private investors. “This is not about politics. This is about setting up institutions that will continue beyond my administration. We are building systems that no future government can easily abandon,” he said. He also highlighted Oyo’s pioneering role in Africa’s trade environment, noting, “Oyo State is the first sub-national government in Africa to formally launch an implementation strategy for AfCFTA. This means we are positioning ourselves for continental competitiveness.” He recalled Oyo’s historical leadership in cocoa production, emphasizing that starting from the ground up is a deliberate developmental trajectory. Earlier in his address, the state Project Coordinator of L-PRES, Mr. Kola Kazeem, noted that the project focuses on promoting sustainable livestock production, improving animal health and welfare, and enhancing the resilience of livestock farmers. “The livestock sector is a critical component of Oyo State’s agricultural economy, providing food, income, and employment opportunities for thousands of people,” Kazeem said. “However, challenges such as climate change, disease outbreaks, and inadequate infrastructure have hindered the sector’s growth. The L-PRES Project seeks to address these challenges while fostering industrialization and private sector investment.” Dr. Tunde Adegoke-Amole, Country Representative for the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) Nigeria office, described the governor’s commitment as unprecedented. He explained that the roadmap would assess value chains, establish production and processing centers, and outline roles for both government and private investors. “We want to make sure the wealth remains in Oyo State and the product, final product is out there. Job creation, environmental safety, and food surplus are key objectives,” he said. Farmers In Ona-Ara, Egbeda, Kajola, Other LGAs Benefit As OYSADA Completes 5th N-Cares Farm Inputs Distribution

The Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA)has completed its statewide 5th N-CARES agricultural inputs distribution, concluding the programme with the final local government areas of Ona-Ara, Egbeda, and Kajola, alongside other LGAs across the state. This marks the end of a multi-phase rollout that reached farmers in all 33 local government areas of Oyo State, delivering vital resources to boost food security and strengthen smallholder farming. Speaking during the concluding phase, Dr. Debo Akande, Director-General of OYSADA, emphasized that the initiative was a strategic investment in the state’s future. “This is more than input distribution, it’s about securing our food systems. Every seed, every bag of fertiliser is a building block for sustainable agriculture. We want our farmers to see themselves as entrepreneurs who feed our people and fuel our economy,” Akande said. In Ona-Ara Local Government, the Executive Chairman, Dr. Kolapo Temitope Glorious, praised the state government’s total support for grassroots farming. “This is a timely boost for our farmers. With the cost of farm inputs skyrocketing, such support ensures that food production in Ona-Ara will not be compromised,” he said. Beneficiary Mr. Akeem Ajibade, who cultivates maize and yam, expressed relief,.He said, “Before now, I had delayed planting because I couldn’t afford fertiliser. Now I can proceed and expect a good harvest.” Another beneficiary, Mrs. Adijat Ayinde, noted, “This support means my family can farm without borrowing money from local lenders who charge high interest.” In Egbeda Local Government, Executive Chairman Hon. OYSADA Distributes Farm Inputs To Farmers In Oluyole, Lagelu, Akinyele, Ibadan North East, Others.

In its ongoing mission to revamp food systems and empower local farmers, the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA) has expanded the N-CARES agricultural inputs distribution to six local government areas in Ibadan namely, Ibadan North East, Oluyole, Lagelu, Ibadan North-West, Ibadan South-West and Akinyele. The initiative, part of the broader Nigeria Community Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (N‑CARES) programme, seeks to tackle skyrocketing input prices and boost food security by providing crucial farm inputs to smallholder farmers. Items distributed include NPK fertilizers, improved maize seeds, soybean seeds, herbicides, and NoduMax legume inoculants. At the distribution centre in Ibadan North East, beneficiaries received NPK fertilizer, improved maize seeds, and herbicides. Dr. Debo Akande, the Director-General of OYSADA, reiterated the vision behind the programme: “We are building more than farms; we are building resilience. Our farmers are the foundation of our food economy. With the right tools, they become entrepreneurs who feed not just their families, but the entire state.” Hon. Kamorudeen Mudasiru, had a large turnout of beneficiaries of over 100 farmers received 50kg of SSP fertilizer, improved maize seeds, soybean fertilizer, herbicides, 10kg soybean seeds, and NoduMax inoculants. Mudasiru stated, “This is not just input distribution, it’s a revival of Lagelu’s agricultural heritage.” Dele Ayoola, Secretary of the Lagelu Farmers’ Association, stated that, “Without this intervention, most of our members would have cut their farming plans in half.” Young soybean farmer, Mr. Saheed Adedokun, said the inoculants will increase yield through better nitrogen fixation. Mrs. Tawa Adebisi, farming with her husband, said, “With this, we expect to double our harvest.” At Ibadan North-West LGA, the Executive Chairman, Alhaji Ramon Adepoju, praised the initiative, saying, “This is a game-changer for our grassroots farmers. OYSADA Extends N-CARES Farm Inputs Distribution To Ibarapa, Oke-Ogun Zones •••As Farmers In Aiyete, Igboora, Iwere-Ile, Others Rejoice Over Govt. Support

The Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA) has extended the ongoing fifth phase of the Nigeria Community Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (N-CARES) farm inputs distribution to farmers across Ibarapa East, Ibarapa Central, Ibarapa North, Iwajowa, and Itesiwaju Local Government Areas of Oyo State. The distribution exercise led by the Director General of OYSADA, Dr. Debo Akande aimed at mitigating the economic effects of the hardship ensued from the fuel subsidy removal on smallholder farmers as well as to enhance food production across the state. While addressing the beneficiaries on Friday, the OYSADA DG, Dr Debo Akande reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to fairness and transparency. He said, “This process is guided by principles of transparency, accountability, and orderliness. We are committed to ensuring that only genuine farmers benefit from this programme. “Governor Seyi Makinde has made it clear, there is no room for favouritism or political interference in empowering our rural farmers.” Debo said. At Aiyete, the headquarters of Ibarapa North, the intervention brought a wave of relief as ten verified farmer groups, each consisting of ten members, received NPK fertilizer, cassava stems, and herbicides. The Executive Chairman of Ibarapa North Local Government, Hon. Lateef Akorede Adebare, was represented by the Secretary of the Local Government, Hon. Oyediran Monsuru, who commended the initiative: “What the government is doing through OYSADA is not just support, it is a statement that rural farmers matter.” One of the beneficiaries, Alabi Saminu, a cassava farmer, said. “We were almost giving up because fertilizer and herbicides are now beyond the reach of poor farmers like us. OYSADA Commences 5th Distribution Exercise Of N-Cares Farm Inputs To Farmers•••As Beneficiaries In Ido, Ogbomosho LGAs Laud Makinde Over Initiative

IBADAN – The Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), under the Director General (DG), Dr. Debo Akande, has commenced the fifth distribution of farm inputs to farmers across the geo-political zones of the state. The farm input distribution aligns with the Nigeria Community Action For Resilience And Economic Stimulus (N-CARES) program, which the state has adopted for the benefit of farmers. The State Project Coordinator (SPC), Mr. Ishola Popoola, who led the OYSADA team on the distribution exercise on Monday at Arowomole, headquarters of Ogbomosho South Local Government, urged farmers to make good use of the inputs. While addressing the farmers on behalf of the OYSADA DG, Popoola stated that Governor Seyi Makinde had mandated the agency to carry out the exercise to assist farmers across the state and increase food production. Farmers in Ogbomosho South were also addressed by Mr. Adeniran Adegboyega Ajani, the Head of Local Government Administration. The Executive Chairman of the local government, Hon. Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy, was represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Sunday Folarin. Others present were Princess Bello Bolanle Adenike (Director of Agriculture), Hon. Adegboyega Stephen (Supervisor for Agriculture), and Mrs. Akanni Olaide (Deputy Director of Agriculture). Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Elder John Oyekale, Chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Ogbomosho South Chapter, said: “We really appreciate Governor Makinde for his timely support. I also commend the DG of OYSADA, Dr. Debo Akande, for the transparent and orderly manner in which this distribution was carried out.” In Ogbomosho North Local Government, the OYSADA N-Cares distribution team was received by the Executive Chairman, Hon. George Ogunlade, alongside the Secretary of the Local Government, Mrs. Bolanle Olaniyi, and other political officials. In his remarks, Hon. Ogunlade said, “Governor Makinde is doing well for farmers in the state. Just a few weeks ago, some of our farmers were called to Ibadan, where they received farm inputs. Today, we are also witnessing another farm input distribution by OYSADA. Our farmers will go home with smiles on their faces, as they are receiving another round of support.” “So, I’m using this medium to urge you all to continue supporting our government, the Engr. Seyi Makinde-led administration, because to whom much is given, much is expected.” Two local farmers, Mrs. Alice Oyekale (a cassava farmer) and Mr. Alabi Are (a maize and soya beans farmer), also expressed their appreciation. Mrs. Oyekale said, “This support has brought great relief to us. The cost of inputs is very high, and we didn’t expect this kind of help to come so soon. We thank the government for remembering us.” Mr. Are added, “I’m grateful for this intervention. It shows that the government is serious about supporting agriculture. With these inputs, I am hopeful this farming season will be a productive one.” The distribution exercise also took place in Ido Local Government Area, where the OYSADA N-Cares team, led by the State Project Coordinator, Mr. Ishola Popoola, who was represented by Dr. Ayedun Bamikole, reiterated the agency’s commitment to reaching every farming community across the state. The Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo, expressed his gratitude to the governor and OYSADA. He revealed that a total of 40 bags of NPK fertilizer, 100 bags of 50kg maize seeds, and 70 bottles of 1-litre herbicides were distributed to ten groups of farmers. In his words, “This administration is intentional about boosting food production and empowering rural farmers. Ido Local Government is grateful to Governor Makinde and OYSADA for this targeted intervention. We will continue to play our part in supporting agribusiness.” Also present were key local government officials, agricultural supervisors, and community leaders who supported the smooth execution of the exercise. Two beneficiaries from Ido also shared their views. Mr. Razaq Adebayo, a maize farmer from Akufo, said, “These inputs came at the right time. We have been struggling with the high cost of fertilizers and seeds. I thank Governor Makinde for remembering us in Ido. With this support, my yield will definitely improve.” Mr. Olarenwaju Akeem, representing a cooperative group, added, “What we received today may look small to some people, but to us farmers, it is a big relief. OYSADA has done this with fairness and transparency. I sincerely appreciate Dr. Debo Akande and the Governor. FG Lauds Makinde’s Commitment On Ijaye Agro-Industrial Hub As SAPZ, AFDB Visit Oyo

IBADAN – The Federal Government delegations that were on assessment visit to Oyo state have commended the state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde over his commitment to the proposed Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) project at Ijaye Atan Village Akinyele local government, Ibadan. Governor Makinde was commended by Dr. Oyebola Yejide Akande, the Assistant Director, African Financial Institutions, Federal Ministry of Finance, International Economic Relations Department, and the National Program Coordinator for the Nigeria Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) program, Dr. Kabir Yusuf during an assessment visit to Atan Village, the site of the Ijaye Agro-industrial Processing Hub on Saturday, 19th, July 2025. Ijaye Agro-industrial Processing Hub upon completion will improve the lives of indigenous farmers in Oyo state l,. especially the farmers in Ijaye and it’s environs. The visiting team also include officials from the African Development Bank (AFDB) and were conducted round the site by the Acting State Coordinator for SAPZ, Dr Ajetunmobi Akinwumi, who represented the Director General of Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), Dr. Debo Akande alongside other personnel of the agency. In her interview with journalists shortly after the tour of the site, Dr. Oyebola Yejide Akande highlighted the importance of the assessment visit, noting that the team were on a supervision mission for the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ), Phase 1 states. She said, “We’ve been to Ogun State, Cross River, and now we are in Oyo State to assess the level of preparedness. The goal is to evaluate what infrastructure is already in place and what still needs to be developed. “Although some basic infrastructure already exists, which we refer to as “ground-fill” there are critical components that must still be built, such as the agro-industrial processing hub, Agricultural Transformation Centre (ATC), and the access roads that connect these hubs to surrounding communities. “For example, in Atan village, where the special agro-industrial processing hub will be sited, there’s a need for access roads to enable smooth transportation of produce and encourage private sector participation. Without good road access, it becomes difficult for investors and farmers to move goods in and out efficiently. “The state government has shown a strong level of commitment right from the start. Our role, alongside the Federal Government, which secured this loan on behalf of the state, is to ensure the people of Oyo State benefit from this initiative. “The essence of this collaboration is to improve livelihoods and promote inclusive development through agriculture. The arrangements under the SAPZ are designed to ensure that beneficiaries, especially those in rural farming communities are not shortchanged. They should be compensated fairly and rewarded in proportion to their contributions and involvement in farming activities.” In his remarks, Dr. Kabir Yusuf said, “We are here on a supervision mission with the African Development Bank and the Federal Ministry of Finance to assess the progress and evaluate how the funds disbursed so far have been utilized. “We recently visited Ijaye, where a massive agro-industrial park is being planned. It’s about 100 hectares in size. With the support of the state government, we’ve guided them through the procurement process for developing the zone, and that process has already been concluded. We’re here to ensure there are no encumbrances so that work can proceed smoothly. “We also visited the Fashola Agribusiness Hub, which has recently been designated by the state as an SAPZ zone. It’s a hub of various agricultural activities, dairy, cashew processing, greenhouse tomato production, cassava, and more. There’s already a joint MoU with FrieslandCampina WAMCO to develop the dairy value chain. “The overall goal of the SAPZ is to ensure that agricultural commodities are not only produced in Nigeria but also processed here to add value before export. What we’ve been doing in all the participating states is to focus on indigenous crops and commodities, and support states with funding to improve productivity and develop local processing capacity. “The aim is to produce finished goods that can go directly to the market shelves, which will help reduce and eventually eliminate the need to import agricultural products. This aligns perfectly with the administration’s ambition of transitioning Nigeria into a $1 trillion economy. In the next few years, we hope to be exporting many of these processed commodities and earning valuable foreign exchange. “The project is a collaboration between the Federal Government and the state government. The Federal Government has already disbursed funds, and procurement for contractors has been concluded. In fact, the government is considering August 2nd for the groundbreaking ceremony, though that’s still being finalized. Once that is done, the contractor will move to site and construction will begin in earnest.”From our perspective, this is a loan-based financing program provided to the state, and I must say the Oyo State government has followed the process judiciously. Governor Seyi Makinde has been extremely magnanimous and proactive. “What’s particularly commendable is that, after we agreed to concentrate the SAPZ loan financing on the Ijaye site, the Governor decided to use state funds to execute the development of the Eruwa agribusiness hub, which was initially meant to be part of the federal financing. That’s a novel and bold move. It shows the Governor’s strong commitment to agriculture and to the people. “The beauty of the SAPZ is that it aims to uplift citizens and eradicate rural poverty by transforming rural communities into economic hubs and secondary cities. There will be a lot of economic activity, value addition, and employment generated in these areas. I truly commend Governor Seyi Makinde for his vision, proactiveness, and dedication to sustainable agricultural development.” Kabir stressed. Other members of the AFDB on the assessment visit include, Engr. Ibrahim Bashir Gaya(Co-task Manager AFDB); Bernard Onzima (Principal Agro-Industry Officer AFDB), Dr. Emmanuel Chisesa (Regional Procurement Coordinator for AFDB Nigeria). Mid-term Retreat: Makinde Launches Performance Delivery Compact To Measure Results•••Says Oyo Admitted Into World Union Of Whole Markets (PHOTOS)

IBADAN – Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has announced the launch of what he described as a Legacy Compact, also known as Oyo State’s Performance Delivery Compact, which will help the administration to measure results and successes in the next two years. The governor gave this indication on Monday, at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), venue of the 2025 Mid-Term Leadership Retreat organised by the Oyo State Government. According to the governor, the performance delivery compact will enable each Ministry, Department and Agency to identify three to five legacy deliverables that they can realistically complete before 2027; break the deliverables down into 6-month targets to see what will be delivered by January 2026, and what will be completed by May 2027; and ensure that each target is Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. He added that the compact will also enable the MDAs to publish the commitments as their Oyo Legacy Pledge, be prepared to stand before the public and say: “this is what we promised, this is what we delivered” and also collaborate across ministries through Joint Compacts, especially where outcomes overlap — such as infrastructure and commerce, education and youth, tourism and environment. Governor Makinde, who spoke on the theme: “Reflecting on progress, refining priorities and re-firing for maximum impact and legacy,” noted that the performance compacts would guide resourcing, visibility, and decision-making for the remainder of the administration, adding that they would be monitored quarterly and reviewed at the state’s Legacy Retreat in 2026. He added that the administration has made remarkable achievements in the last two years of Omituntun 2.0, with successes in the economic sector where the state has been admitted into the World Union of Wholesale Markets courtesy of its partnership with Semmaris on the Ijaiye Food Wholesale Market, the ongoing upgrade of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport into an international airport and the ongoing Ibadan Circular Road, which first phase of 32km would be commissioned before the end of 2025. He added that the administration has recorded remarkable successes in the education sector, where it recruited 14,000 teaching and non-teaching staff, upgraded 105 classrooms with another 36 ongoing; in the health sector where 264 Primary Health Centres have been upgraded and in the infrastructure sector, where feeder and rural roads are receiving priority attention. Governor Makinde noted, however, that it was time to step back and evaluate the efforts with a view to energising MDAs to finish strong as the administration moves into its last two years in office. He said: “Let me formally welcome you to this retreat where we will be reflecting on the journey of Omituntun 2.0. We will be x-raying our activities through the lens of our Oyo State Roadmap for Sustainable Development 2023 to 2027. We are now halfway through this mandate and it is a good time to take a step back to ask ourselves: how far have we come, what remains to be done, and what must we do now to finish strong? “We began this journey not merely with promises, but with a vision—to shift from accelerated development to sustainable transformation. A vision that says: we do not only build for applause, we build for impact. Let us begin by acknowledging that there is much to be proud of. “Under the Economic pillar, Oyo State has made history. We became the first sub-national in Africa to gain admission into the World Union of Wholesale Markets. We secured a landmark partnership with Semmaris to establish Nigeria’s first Rungis-style wholesale agri-food market — a direct outcome of our agribusiness-first strategy. I want to again publicly thank Dr Debo Akande for his role in making this possible. “We commissioned the 11MW Independent Power Project, powering the State Secretariat 24/7 for the first time in 49 years. “We started the Circular Road and the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport upgrade, while paying attention to feeder roads starting from the Ibadan Zone and extending to other zones from this year. We have also commenced the rehabilitation of rural roads through the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP). “Significantly, we brought water to our people. Let me also thank Elias Adeojo for his role in this. He did the unexpected and is still working. Well done. “Our tourism vision is taking shape. We held the first tourism summit in 2024, which helped us to see what direction we wanted to go with tourism, and we are back this year with the second edition, where we will be making a clear call to investors and showing a shift in how we have been working in that sector. “In Education, we recruited over 14,000 new personnel — teaching and non-teaching — to close the gap in our classrooms. We’ve upgraded 105 schools in underserved areas and commenced work on 36 more. The focus is not just on structures, but also on curriculum reform, digital tools, and inclusion. “In Healthcare, we’ve extended the Omituntun Free Health Mission, reaching over 18,000 people this year alone, equipped 264 Primary Healthcare Centres, and improved health equity. Diseases like Onchocerciasis and Lymphatic Filariasis have been eliminated in several LGAs — a first for our State. I acknowledge the work our Commissioner for Health, Dr Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, and the rest of the team are doing in this sector. Oyo State NG-CARES Continues Farm Inputs Distribution to Smallholder Farmers in June 2025

The Oyo State Government,under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, proudly announced the continuation of the distribution of farm inputs to smallholder farmers through the Oyo State Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (Oyo State NG-CARES) programme in June 2025. This initiative, supported by the World Bank, aims to enhance food security, boost agricultural productivity, and mitigate the economic challenges faced by vulnerable farmers across the state. Building on the success of previous phases, the June 2025 distribution targets thousands of smallholder farmers in multiple local government areas (LGAs), providing critical agricultural inputs such as NPK fertilizers, maize and tomato seeds, herbicides, cassava cuttings, and livestock like goats. In 2024, the fourth phase of the programme supported 3,660 farmers across 26 LGAs, significantly improving livelihoods and food production. This ongoing effort underscores the state’s commitment to empowering farmers and fostering economic resilience in the face of all challenges unleashed on Nigerians by the failed All Progressives Congress (APC) administration. The Oyo State NG-CARES programme, coordinated by the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), also includes capacity-building and extension services to equip farmers with modern techniques for sustainable farming. The initiative prioritizes Farmers Community Associations (FCAs) and beneficiaries of the Youth Entrepreneur Agro-preneur Programme (YEAP), ensuring inclusivity and impact. Governor Makinde’s administration remains dedicated to transforming Oyo State’s agricultural sector through strategic interventions like NG-CARES, the Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery (SAfER) programme, and tractorization subsidies.
