The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government. In a statement on Tuesday by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Magdalene Ajani, the minister extended warm greetings and heartfelt congratulations to Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the fasting period. The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, as a public holiday to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid, the celebration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW). The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja.. He urged Muslims to use the occasion to reflect deeply on the exemplary life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad, describing him as a model of peace, love, patience, and tolerance. “On this occasion, I call on all Muslims to imbibe the Prophet’s virtues of love, humility, and selflessness.
