“I’ll Be Back Stronger” — Broda Shaggi Breaks Silence

Popular Nigerian skit maker and actor Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, has spoken out after months away from the public eye, expressing gratitude to his fans for their continued support and loyalty throughout his absence. Shaggi, who has largely stayed away from social engagements, public appearances and shows in recent months, said he had been unable to connect with his fans in the way he wanted. In an emotional message shared on his WhatsApp channel on Friday, the comedian thanked those who continued to check on him and support him despite his prolonged absence. He said their patience and loyalty had meant more to him than he could express. “To everyone who’s still here… waiting, checking in, showing love, and holding me down even through the silence, thank you. I don’t think y’all truly understand how much that means to me. “Even when I haven’t been able to show up the way I wanted to, knowing that y’all are still here has meant more than I can put into words,” he wrote. The skit maker, however, did not disclose the reason for his absence, saying he was not yet ready to tell his full story. He hinted that he would eventually open up about what he had been going through and expressed hope that he would soon return to doing what he is known for. “I wish I could tell y’all everything right now… but I can’t. Not yet. “Just know I haven’t forgotten about you, and I haven’t stopped thinking about the day I can finally come back and really be ME with y’all again. I’m hoping that day comes soon,” he said. Shaggi also promised his fans that his eventual return would be stronger, while acknowledging the time he had spent away from the scene. “And when it does, I promise I’m coming back better, stronger, and ready to make up for all this lost time,” he added. “Until then, please know this from the bottom of my heart. I LOOOOOOOOR Y’ALL SOOOO MUCH. Thank you for staying. Thank you for being patient with me. Thank you for still being here,” Shaggi said. The message comes months after reports surrounding an alleged shooting incident involving the comedian sparked concern among his fans. PUNCH Online had reported that the Ogun State Police Command commenced an investigation into reports that Shaggi had sustained a gunshot injury while filming a comedy skit around the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State. The reported incident was said to have occurred on a Sunday afternoon while the comedian and his crew were filming under the Sango-Ota bridge. However, the circumstances surrounding the reported incident remained unclear, while the Ogun State Police Command said it could not confirm that the incident occurred within the state. In a statement issued at the time, the command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, urged members of the public to avoid spreading unverified information. “For the sake of clarity, the command cannot confirm that Broda Shaggy was shot anywhere within Ogun State. Investigation into the matter has, however, commenced,” he said. “Members of the public are kindly advised to refrain from spreading unverified information and allow the investigation to run its course.” The Lagos State Police Command had also said detectives were alerted by a hospital about a gunshot victim receiving treatment at the facility. According to the command, officers who visited the hospital discovered that the victim was Shaggi. The command said he had an injury to his thigh, but noted that the reported location of the incident, Sango-Ota, was outside its jurisdiction. At the time, a source told PUNCH Online that Shaggi had initially been taken to a hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos before being referred to another facility in Ikeja. However, reports surrounding the incident were later questioned on social media, while no detailed account of what happened was publicly provided by Shaggi himself or his management. His prolonged absence from public events, comedy shows and his usual online activities subsequently became a source of concern among fans, who continued to ask about his whereabouts and wellbeing. Shaggi’s latest message is his most significant public communication in months, although he stopped short of explaining what had kept him away. The comedian instead focused on thanking his supporters and assuring them that he had not forgotten them. Known for his distinctive comic character, energetic skits and appearances in Nigerian entertainment productions, Shaggi rose to prominence through social media comedy and has built a large following across various platforms. For now, his fans are left waiting for the full story he promised to share, and, perhaps, his return to the comedy scene.

Itansan ArtFest 2026 Opens Bigger Career Doors For Young Models

Young models and emerging fashion creatives have been encouraged to embrace cultural fashion and artistic expression as pathways to broader career opportunities in the creative industry. The charge was given during the maiden edition of Itansan ArtFest 2026 held on Saturday at the Adeline Hall of Lead City University, Ibadan, where organisers highlighted the role of fashion, performance, and cultural storytelling in empowering youths and creating sustainable careers. The festival, themed “Beacon of the Ancestors,” featured colourful fashion parades, cultural displays, theatre performances, exhibitions, workshops, and stage presentations that showcased African heritage and creativity. Speaking at the event, the convener, Adekunle Elizabeth Adewunmi, popularly known as Adewunmi Itansan, said the initiative was designed not only to preserve cultural identity but also to create platforms where young talents could thrive professionally. According to her, many young creatives, especially models and performers, often struggle to access opportunities capable of projecting them beyond local spaces despite their talents and creativity. She explained that Itansan ArtFest was created to bridge that gap by exposing participants to industry stakeholders, cultural entrepreneurs, curators, and audiences who appreciate African-inspired creativity. “We wanted to create a platform where young people can showcase their creativity confidently while remaining connected to their roots. Fashion, modelling, theatre, and art are not just forms of entertainment; they are career opportunities and tools for cultural preservation,” she said. Adewunmi noted that the festival provided young models with the opportunity to participate in professionally coordinated fashion showcases inspired by African traditions, fabrics, and storytelling. She added that beyond the runway, participants were exposed to networking opportunities, mentorship, and creative collaborations capable of opening doors within the fashion and entertainment industries. According to her, many youths have talent but lack platforms that can give them visibility and professional direction. “We are building a generation of creatives who understand that culture can also create jobs, build brands, and open international opportunities,” she added. The convener further stressed the need for young people to see cultural fashion and artistic expression as viable economic ventures capable of contributing to personal growth and national development. Some of the participants who spoke during the event described the festival as an eye-opening experience that allowed them to gain confidence, showcase their skills, and connect with professionals within the creative space. The event also featured the launch of the cultural book Emissaries of the Gods (Iko Orisa), cultural workshops, trade exhibitions, and theatrical performances aimed at promoting indigenous heritage among younger generations. Among dignitaries present at the festival were the Osun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Ojo Abiodun; the Oyo State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Wasiu Olatunbosun; Rashidat Olayinka Ladoja; renowned artist and curator, Tunde Odunlade; and Adekunle Alonge. My Father-in-Law is Expecting Negative DNA Outcome – Mohbad’s Widow

Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba known as Mohbad, has claimed that her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, wants the DNA test involving her son to return a negative result. Speaking in a now-circulating interview on Channels TV, Omowunmi alleged that the conflict between both families began before Mohbad’s death and stemmed from internal family disputes. “Yeah, we used to be best of friends. So I think we fell out, I think it was after I had my child,” she said. According to her, disagreements surrounding Liam’s naming ceremony and unresolved family issues escalated over time. “It was after I had Liam, because of the naming ceremony issues, and the fact that my husband forgave his mother. It was just a family feud that became something very big,” she stated. Omowunmi argued that many people mistakenly assume the rift began only after Mohbad’s death. “A lot of people online feel like it’s all about the demise of my husband. But in reality, it is because of the family feud that we had before the demise of my husband,” she added. The late singer’s widow further alleged that shortly after Mohbad’s death, her father-in-law focused discussions on the singer’s properties and royalties. “I literally placed a call to him because I was tensed and scared. He wasn’t saying what I needed to hear. He was just talking about my husband’s property and all of that,” she claimed. She further alleged that Joseph Aloba wants the DNA outcome to disprove Liam’s paternity. “What he actually wants can never happen. He actually wants the DNA of my child to be negative,” she said. Omowunmi added that the situation has deteriorated to the point where reconciliation may no longer be possible. “It has really got to a point that I don’t think this whole family feud can be settled anymore,” she stated. Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, under controversial circumstances at the age of 27. His death sparked nationwide outrage, protests and multiple investigations, including court proceedings, autopsy reviews and ongoing disputes surrounding the paternity of his son, Liam. PUNCH Online had reported that Mohbad’s body was exhumed for autopsy following public demands for justice, while legal battles over DNA testing, inheritance, royalties and the circumstances surrounding his death have continued into 2026. Joseph Aloba has repeatedly insisted on a DNA test to determine Liam’s paternity before the singer’s final burial, while Omowunmi has maintained that she has never opposed the test and insists Liam is Mohbad’s biological son.
