2Baba, Annie Idibia Follow Each Other Again Amid Reconciliation Speculation

Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, and his estranged wife, Annie Idibia, have reignited reconciliation speculation after the pair followed each other again on Instagram. The former couple, who had previously unfollowed each other on the social media platform, are now following each other again. The development has generated speculation among fans, with some interpreting the renewed Instagram connection as a possible sign that the estranged couple may be rebuilding their relationship. Annie has also reverted to the Instagram name she recently changed from Annie Idibia to Annie Macaulay, further fuelling fans’ curiosity. However, neither 2Baba nor Annie has publicly confirmed that they are reconciling or taking steps to revive their marriage. The renewed social media connection comes more than a year after 2Baba publicly announced that he and Annie had separated and were filing for divorce. In January 2025, the singer announced on Instagram that he and Annie had been separated for some time and were “currently filing for divorce”. The announcement generated widespread reactions, particularly because of the couple’s long and often turbulent relationship. Although the post was initially deleted amid claims that his account had been hacked, 2Baba later confirmed that he was responsible for the announcement. The couple’s relationship dates back to the early years of 2Baba’s music career. Annie featured in the video for his hit song, African Queen, and the pair eventually got married in 2013. Their wedding was held in two ceremonies, with the traditional wedding taking place in Akwa Ibom State and the white wedding held in Dubai. The marriage, however, was repeatedly hit by public controversies, particularly over 2Baba’s relationships with other women and his children from previous relationships. In 2021, the couple’s marital crisis became a major subject of public discussion after Annie accused 2Baba of travelling to the United States to spend time with Pero Adeniyi, the mother of some of his children. The controversy triggered a series of public accusations involving members of both families. Despite the repeated challenges, the couple continued their relationship and renewed their vows in 2023 to mark their 10th wedding anniversary. However, their marriage eventually suffered another major setback, leading to 2Baba’s separation announcement in January 2025. The singer later moved on and married Edo State lawmaker, Natasha Osawaru. Since the separation, both 2Baba and Annie have occasionally been at the centre of speculation about their relationship. The latest development, however, is the renewed Instagram connection between the estranged couple. While following each other again does not necessarily confirm a reconciliation, the move has nevertheless revived discussions about the possibility of the former couple making peace after years of marital crisis.

Celebrities Slam 2Face Over Split From Wife, Annie

Celebrities and social media users have slammed the action of Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, better known as 2Baba, as he reconfirmed separation from his wife, Annie. PUNCH Metro on Monday reported that in a video posted on his Instagram story, 2Baba confirmed his separation from his wife, Annie Idibia, after earlier stating in a now-deleted post that his account was hacked. “Hello to my beautiful people of all federations. Well, this thing I have to say is short but also long. I and Annie Macaulay have been separated for a while now, and currently filing for divorce. “I would grant a press release soon to say my story. Not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life but because I love my people and I need them to know my innocence or offence. Stay blessed my people. I love you all”, he stated. Soon after the singer posted another message where he stated that his page had been hacked. It read, “My Instagram account has been hacked, efforts are being carried out to take back control. #onelove!” In a later turn of events, 2Baba posted two videos clarifying the situation. He confirmed that his account had not been hacked, contradicting the previous claim. “Yo, bless some more people. Nobody hacked my accounts. Na me yarn weytin I yarn.” “Yo, my people man, nobody hacked my account. Nah me talk weytin I wan talk. You understand? I come in peace”, he stated in the video. PUNCH Metro gathered that following the announcement of their split, the singer faced backlash from some celebrities and social media users who criticized his decision, while few rallied around him in support. TV personality, Toke Makinwa, in a post responding to the singer’s post confirming his split from Annie, stated, “This is wrong on all levels, you should be ashamed for bringing this here. Bring it on, if you think she is alone; let me tell you here that you will have to fight us all.” In a post on her own Instagram account, Makinwa disclosed that women should take a stand against any wrongdoing, as it affects all females and shared that the issue shouldn’t be brought online, especially during a sensitive time. I’m not one for too much talk, but what is wrong is wrong. But as a woman, if you sit on the fence on this one, if it misses, it will touch your daughter or any female in your family. No one is innocent, and if you want to bring the media into it knowing what is happening, we will fight for her. “Nobody is asking anybody to stay in a situation that’s not serving them any purpose anymore. By all means, leave if you must but why bring this online, at this very moment? We know what is going on behind closed doors. The world doesn’t know anything, it’s already been hectic with opinions flying around and when I say we will fight for her. “I’m not talking about the general public, A handful of people know the truth and time will tell. Timing is everything. Empathy is everything. You constantly preach love, and you cannot add to the narrative that’s out there when you know what is happening behind closed doors”, she stated. Nollywood actress Mary Remmy Njoku, shared on her Instagram page, “Bro, Annie has a family o! Your sisters-in-law are many, and we’ve stayed quiet out of respect for her tough choices, but since you’ve decided to humiliate her at her lowest, no wahala. It’s your choice. Just make sure she’s healthy and okay. Because when the time comes, we’ll have plenty of questions for you!.” Nollywood actress, Uche Elendu expressed disappointment towards 2baba’s public announcement of his separation from Annie. “No love, No accountability, No loyalty, No culture, No bond, No memory, No decorum, No respect, No empathy. I am so disappointed at this betrayal and insensitive public announcement from 2face. At a time like this, love does not count errors. “The public does not need this information, you are too big for public validation. A woman that locked in on your mess in the public space, IDGAF what goes on behind us, but what we see, we believe. Men will stain your white!!! Most of them forget so fast. Annie left her life for the man she loved, but love has failed her. It is well”, she said. Big Brother Naija star, Nina Ivy, also expressed her opinion saying, “I can never, ever, ever be with a man who seeks public validation-never. A man who would dare to use my lowest moments to taunt me on social media? Not. A man who wouldn’t prioritise or support my mental health? Never, ever. Emphasis on never. “Ladies, you deserve peace and respect in a relationship. Being with someone who values your well-being, supports you privately and publicly, and nurtures your mental health is essential. A man who seeks public validation or uses your vulnerabilities against you shows a lack of emotional maturity and empathy. Protecting your peace and setting those boundaries is powerful. “When the whole world is against me and the pressure from others is on the rise, I don’t care what issues we’ve had or are still having. As a human being, you should never use a person’s lowest moment to taunt them or add to their struggles. Period!”, she stated. Calls made by our correspondent to reach 2Baba’s management team were not responded to as of the time of writing this report.
