First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has donated ₦5 million to beneficiaries of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Agricultural Support Programme in Anambra State to help strengthen their businesses. The First Lady presented the financial support through the wife of the Anambra State Governor, Nonye Soludo, who handed the money to the beneficiaries at the Light House in Awka. Soludo disclosed the development in a statement issued by her media aide, Daniel Ezeigwe, on Monday. According to her, Tinubu approved the donation after beneficiaries of last year’s RHI Agricultural Support Programme warmly received her during her visit to Anambra State last Thursday. The beneficiaries had also presented a token of support for President Bola Tinubu and his administration ahead of the 2027 general election. The statement said the First Lady described the gesture as unprecedented and decided to reciprocate by providing the beneficiaries with ₦5 million to further support their businesses. Soludo said: “Following the warm reception she received from beneficiaries of last year’s ‘Renewed Hope Initiative Agricultural Support Programme’ during her visit to Anambra State, the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, has gifted them ₦5 million to further support and strengthen their businesses. “The beneficiaries had, during her official visit to Anambra last Thursday, presented a token of support for the President and his administration ahead of 2027.” RHI Targets Food Security and Vulnerable Households The Renewed Hope Initiative Agricultural Support Programme seeks to support vulnerable households and improve access to nutritious food, particularly for nursing mothers and people facing food insecurity. Soludo described the donation as another reminder of the importance of kindness and appreciation. She also expressed appreciation to the First Lady for the financial support and her continued commitment to supporting beneficiaries of the agricultural programme.

Plateau Attack: Apostle Selman Donates ₦200m in Cash and Food Aid to Victims

  Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has urged residents to embrace a shared responsibility in maintaining peace and fostering unity across the state. The governor made the call on Wednesday while receiving the founder and senior pastor of Eternity Network International, also known as Koinonia Global, Apostle Joshua Selman, during a courtesy visit to the Government House, Jos, following recent attacks in parts of the state. During the visit, Selman donated relief materials and cash worth over N200 million to support victims of the recent attacks. Mutfwang, who expressed appreciation for the visit, said the presence of the cleric and his team was “a strong show of solidarity with the government and people of Plateau in a time of grief.” He thanked God for the life and impact of Apostle Selman, describing him as “a prophet with honour in his hometown,” whose influence has positively touched many lives. The governor also acknowledged other members of the delegation, including a former Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission, John Kennedy and Mr Bestman Wadia, commending their contributions and connection to Plateau State. While lamenting the recent attacks, Mutfwang said the government had extended support not only to affected Christian communities but also to some Muslim families impacted by the violence, stressing the need for unity and humanity beyond religious lines. “We deliberately reached out to affected Muslim families as a demonstration of our love for humanity. Plateau belongs to all of us,” he said. He also appreciated the outpouring of support and condolences from across the country and beyond, including from President Bola Tinubu, noting that such solidarity has strengthened the resolve of the people. The governor, however, assured that efforts were ongoing to prevent a recurrence of such attacks, while urging citizens to remain hopeful. “If it had not been the Lord, what the devil intended would have been worse. While we mourn, we must also be grateful for what God has prevented,” he said. Mutfwang further called on Plateau indigenes, both at home and in the diaspora, to contribute to the development and preservation of the state. “No matter what we become outside, if home is not strong, we remain vulnerable. The preservation of Plateau is a collective responsibility,” he added, describing Plateau as “a divine project that must be protected by all.” Earlier, Apostle Selman, who was accompanied by the said, the visit was to identify with the state and commiserate with families affected by the recent violence. He described Plateau as “a land of great potential, rich culture and resilient people,” but lamented the spate of violence that has plagued the state over the years. “We came not just as ministers of the gospel, but as sons of the soil, to stand with the people in this difficult time and to encourage hope,” he said. The cleric urged the state government not to be discouraged despite the challenges, assuring that their efforts would eventually yield positive results. “Someday, we will look back and appreciate the courage and resilience of the leadership for not giving up,” he said. As part of his intervention, Selman announced the donation of relief materials, including a truckload of about 3,000 bags of rice and other essential items valued at over N100 million. He said the items would be distributed across affected communities in collaboration with the state government and the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN. In addition, he disclosed a financial support package of about N100 million to assist victims and affected families. “These palliatives may not bring back the dead, but they can bring comfort to grieving families and demonstrate love and responsibility,” he said. Selman emphasised the need for collective effort in addressing the crisis, noting that while no single group can solve the problem alone, everyone has a role to play. “It would be unfair to do nothing. We must all contribute in our own way to bring relief and restore hope,” he added.

Niger Gov Donates N1m Each to Families of Tanker Explosion Victims

The Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has announced a donation of ₦1 million to each family of the deceased victims and ₦500,000 to each of the injured survivors of the recent tanker explosion in Essa, Katcha Local Government Area. Bago made the announcement on Thursday during a condolence visit to the affected community, where he conducted an on-the-spot assessment and met with local leaders and residents. This is contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, on Thursday night. The tragic incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, when fire ignited and overpowered residents scooping petrol from a fallen tanker, along the Bida–Badegi–Agaie road. The Director-General of the Niger State Emergency Management Authority, Abdullahi Arah, confirmed that the death toll from the petrol tanker explosion rose to 42. Arah, who spoke on ARISE News, attributed the tragic incident to the poor condition of the road and the high temperature in the area, which he said contributed to the ignition of the fire. “As of the last count, the total number of dead stands at 42, and the number of injured persons is 52,” Arah said. Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, the governor prayed for the speedy recovery of those receiving treatment in hospitals in Bida and Abuja. He condemned the act of residents scooping fuel from fallen tankers, describing it as both dangerous and criminal. “We came to commiserate with them over loss of lives and to also talk to their conscience. “It is a terrible thing that a truck will fall and people of the community will carry containers to scoop fuel. It is theft and must be addressed as such, and we can’t encourage it,” he warned. Bago also “announced a donation of N1m to families of each of the deceased victims and N500,000 to each of the injured victims receiving treatment.” While acknowledging that poor road conditions contributed to the tragedy, he urged residents to act responsibly and assist in rescue efforts during such emergencies rather than endanger their lives. The governor also revealed that business mogul, Aliko Dangote, had pledged to repair the Mokwa–Lambata Road, with work expected to commence soon. “The state government will build a new primary healthcare center in Essa Community to cater for their health needs,” the statement added.

  Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has donated N100 million to assist the survivors and families of the deceased from the recent tanker explosion in Majiya town, Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State. The tragic incident, which occurred on Tuesday night, claimed the lives of over 150 people and left more than 50 others injured. Governor Yusuf made this announcement during a sympathy visit to Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State in Dutse. Expressing his profound grief over the devastating event, Yusuf described the explosion as one of the greatest tragedies to befall Jigawa and Nigeria as a whole. What he said : “On behalf of the government and good people of Kano state, I’m here to commiserate with you over this unfortunate and tragic fire incident that cost the lives and properties of innocent citizens of your state in Majiya town of Taura local government. “It is unfortunate that the Jigawa government and indeed Nigeria lost over 100 lives of innocent citizens. “The people of Kano and Jigawa are brothers and sisters, therefore, on behalf of the government and good people the state, I wish to announce a token donation of N100 million so that the government can take care of victims at hospital, as well as the families of those that departed,” Yusuf said. What to know Governor Namadi, in his response, expressed deep gratitude to Governor Yusuf and the people of Kano for their generosity and compassion. “On behalf of the government and the people of Jigawa, I want to thank you for this show of solidarity and brotherhood. Your support means a lot to us during this difficult time,” said Namadi. The ill-fated event was caused by an overturned fuel tanker which exploded in northern Nigeria on Tuesday night, resulting in the deaths of at least 153 people who had gathered to collect leaking petrol. The explosion occurred in the town of Majia, Jigawa State, at approximately 23:30 local time, following the crash of the tanker, which had been en route from Kano to Nguru in Yobe State. Authorities had cordoned off the site and warned the crowd to stay away from the area, but were unable to disperse the growing number of people before the explosion occurred. According to police spokesman Lawal Shiisu Adam, officers attempted to control the situation, but the crowd continued to approach the tanker, leading to the tragic outcome. In addition to the fatalities, around 100 individuals were seriously injured and taken to nearby hospitals, with many in critical condition. The incident has prompted renewed concerns over safety measures and crowd control at accident scenes involving hazardous materials. The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has also launched an investigation into the cause of the tanker explosion. In a statement, the NSIB Director of Public Affairs and Family Assistance, Mrs. Bimbo Oladeji, said the bureau is “aware of the tragic petrol tanker explosion” and is working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accident. Nigerian Governor Donates $10,000 To Rebuild Niger Republic 200-Year-Old Mosque

  Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has donated $10,000 for the rebuilding of a 200 year-old mosque in Damagaram, Niger Republic. Special Adviser on Political Matters to the governor, Alhaji Ya’u Umar Gwajo-gwaj, who delivered the donation, disclosed this while addressing journalists in Katsina on Friday. According to Gwajo-Gwajo, who is also the Turankin Damagaran, the historic Mosque which collapsed recently, will be reconstructed. He added that the Sultan of Damagaram, Alhaji Abubakar Sanda-Umau, expressed appreciation to the governor for the donation which he said would enable the construction of a standard Mosque. “The gesture will further cement the long-standing relationship between Katsina and Damagaram, which has been flourishing for over 500 years,” Gwajo-Gwajo quoted the Sultan as saying. Gwajo-gwajo told the Emir that Gov. Radda gave the donation for the rebuilding of the Mosque, owing to his passion for social and spiritual development of the people. “The governor is passionate about the social and spiritual development of the people of Damagaram and Niger Republic as a whole. “This Mosque will contribute towards instilling Islamic moral discipline in our people, and it will assist in addressing many social ills in our society. “We are one people separated by artificial borders, this is why we should strengthen bilateral relations between our people and address our challenges collectively,“ Gwajo-gwajo said. Ogun Government Donates N200 Million To Borno State In Response To Flood Disaster

  The Ogun State Government has donated sum of N200 million to the Borno State Government following the devastating flood that recently ravaged the state, destroying property and displacing thousands of residents. It will be recalled that Governor Dapo Abiodun had earlier sent messages of condolence to the people and government of Borno State, commending the state government for its prompt response alongside interventions from the federal government. Announcing the donation on Saturday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade stated that the gesture was aimed at assisting the victims of the flood and providing immediate relief. He noted that the flood had caused an unimaginable humanitarian crisis in the state, necessitating immediate support from all Nigerians to provide succor for the affected people. The National Emergency Management Agency reported that the flood began after the Alau Dam overflowed due to heavy rainfall, leading to the worst flooding the town had experienced in 30 years. According to reports, at least 414,000 people have been displaced, and 30 lives lost in the devastating flood in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

School Resumption: Oke-Ogun Group Donates Uniforms To 83 Indigent Students

  According to the Coordinator of the forum, Surveyor Eegundiran Abiodun, during the presentation of the uniforms to students at Iseyin District Grammar School (IDGS), Iseyin, on Friday, said the forum has contributed towards the educational growth of the State in the past, which was recorded in the distribution of ten thousand exercise books to primary and secondary schools, provision of nose masks during the Covid-19 pandemic, supply of whiteboards and markers to schools, payment of Joint Admission And Matriculation Board (JAMB), National Examination Council (NECO) and West African Examination Council (WAEC) fees for indigent students. A socioeconomic development group, named Oke-Ogun Dynamic Forum (OODF) has distributed new uniforms to eighty-three indigent students of various public schools across the region. The gesture which was part of the group’s contribution towards the reduction of out-of-school children in the State and contribute towards stamping out societal vices among youths. According to the Coordinator of the forum, Surveyor Eegundiran Abiodun, during the presentation of the uniforms to students at Iseyin District Grammar School (IDGS), Iseyin, on Friday, said the forum has contributed towards the educational growth of the State in the past, which was recorded in the distribution of ten thousand exercise books to primary and secondary schools, provision of nose masks during the Covid-19 pandemic, supply of whiteboards and markers to schools, payment of Joint Admission And Matriculation Board (JAMB), National Examination Council (NECO) and West African Examination Council (WAEC) fees for indigent students. Others are Baptist High School, Ilero, Ilua Community Grammar School, Ilua, at Kajola Local Government while they visited Baptist Grammar School, Otu, Ipapo Grammar School, Ipapo, Oke-Amu Community High School, Oke Amu and Komu Baba Ode High School, School at Komu in Itesiwaju local government for the same mission. Abiodun called on people of means in the society to wake up and assist those in need, especially in the present economic situation of the country that might worsen the rate of school enrollment, as most parents may not be able to afford basic materials like uniforms for their wards. “The Okeogun Dynamic Forums, originally inaugurated in December 2018 as the Okeogun Community Development Forum, has grown significantly since its inception. “The organization, which encompasses members from 10 local governments in the Oke-Ogun area of Oyo State, was founded with the cardinal objectives of fostering socio-economic development, promoting peaceful coexistence, enhancing educational and welfare opportunities, supporting cultural activities, campaigning against societal vices, and promoting a culture of excellence and moral values. “Since 2019, the forum has carried out several impactful initiatives, including distributing over 10,000 exercise books to primary and secondary school students, providing nose masks during the COVID-19 pandemic, supplying whiteboards and markers to schools, paying JAMB, NECO, and WAEC fees for selected students, and organizing career talks and entrepreneurship programs. “Today marks the last day in which the forum has been distributing school uniforms to selected students in Iseyin, Itesiwaju and Kajola local governments. “We plan to extend these efforts by visiting five selected secondary schools in Iwajowa Local Government in the coming week apart to capture the envisaged eighty-three beneficiaries. “We are using this opportunity to call on people that have opportunities that these children don’t have to please assist in whatever way to complement the efforts of government to keep these children in school and thereby curb social vices that arise from their not having education,” he pleaded. Surveyor Eegundiran added that in 2024, the organization officially changed its name from Okeogun Community Development Forum to Okeogun Dynamic Forums following its registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and has since contributed towards achieving an Oke-Ogun region with viable socio-economic development.

Maiduguri Flood: Dangote Donates N1.5 Billion To Victims

  Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of the Aliko Dangote Group, has donated N1.5 billion to support the victims of the flood disaster in Maiduguri. He made the announcement during an assessment visit to some of the affected locations in Maiduguri.Accompanied by Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state, Dangote said out the amount, N1 billion was given to National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to work with the Borno State government. “I just want to clarify, we have this flood committee. NEMA wrote us a letter; so we sat down and approved N1 billion to NEMA to work with the Borno State government. On top of that, the Aliko Dangote Foundation will put additional N500 millions so that’s #1.5 billion. Thank you,” he said. Earlier, Gov Sule also announced the donation of unspecified number of trucks of relief materials to support the Borno state government. Responding, Governor Babagana Zulum praised them for generosity and love towards the people of Borno. “Not everyone that has money has the heart of giving, Aliko Dangote has been helping our people, this is not first time. I pray that Allah will reward you with Aljannah.” “I would like to thank my brother, Gov Abdullahi Sule, who came along with Aliko Dangote to visit us at this trying moment.”
