Scores of Ogbomoso residents took to the streets on Saturday morning to stage a peaceful protest, drawing attention to the deplorable state of the Ogbomoso-Oyo road.

The protesters expressed their frustration over the long-standing neglect of the road, which has caused significant gridlock in recent months.

The protest comes just a day after the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye (Soun Orumogege III), announced the commencement of temporary repairs on the road. However, the youths insisted that the government must take immediate and decisive action to permanently fix the road.

During the demonstration, the protesters carried placards and banners with various inscriptions, calling on the federal government to expedite the road’s rehabilitation.

The youth leaders issued a 30-day ultimatum, demanding that the road be fully repaired. They warned that if the government fails to act within the given timeframe, they would block the road for seven days in protest.
