Dismissed Killers Of Kwara Poly Student Arraigned, Remanded In Prison

The three police officers dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force for killing a polytechnic student, AbdulYekeen AbdulQoyum, were on Wednesday, October 16, remanded in prison after being arraigned in court for murder.

The dismissed officers are Mr Abiodun Kayode, Mr James Emmanuel, and Mr Oni Philip, and were serving in Kwara State Police Command when the offence was committed.

Reports had it that AbdulQoyum was stabbed by Philip after he was instructed by the two other dismissed officers to chase after him for unknown reasons.

In a suit with number MCIA/1131c/2024, they faced two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide in connection with the death of the late student.

The criminal offence is contrary to Section 97 and 221 of the penal code law.

Counsel for the defence was Barrister Adekunle Iwalaya while the prosecutor was Olajide Emmanuel.

The Magistrate who presided over the case, Mrs Felicia Sha’aba, ordered the remand of the accused in prison while the court awaits legal advice from the Director of Prosecution (DPP
