UK Man Admits Drugging and Raping Wife for Two Decades

A British man in his 60s has pleaded guilty to drugging and raping his wife over a period spanning more than two decades, in the latest UK case involving drug-facilitated sexual abuse. The man, who cannot be named to protect his wife’s identity, entered the guilty plea on Monday at a court in northwest England. He had previously admitted to other sexual offences against his wife. He was scheduled to stand trial alongside 12 other men accused of conspiring to sexually abuse the woman while she was unconscious. The 12 co-defendants, aged between 28 and 73, deny the allegations. A 13th man previously pleaded guilty to conspiring to drug and rape the victim. On Monday, the husband admitted to 60 offences dating back to 2004, including administering a substance to his wife with the intention of stupefying or overpowering her. The other defendants include a paramedic and a former football coach. They are expected to stand trial at the criminal court in Manchester in the coming weeks. Latest UK Case Involving Drug-Facilitated Sexual Abuse The case adds to a growing number of UK criminal cases involving drug-facilitated sexual abuse (DFSA), in which perpetrators use drugs or other substances to render victims unconscious or unable to resist sexual abuse. Global attention on the crime increased following the high-profile case of Dominique Pelicot in France. Pelicot drugged and raped his then-wife, Gisele, for nearly a decade while allowing other men to sexually abuse her. In another UK case last week, a London man pleaded guilty to encouraging other men in an online group chat to sexually abuse their unconscious partners and share images of the abuse. Meanwhile, another man is due to receive his sentence in central England later this week after pleading guilty in July to 32 sexual offences against his girlfriend while she was allegedly drugged or asleep. Youths Beat Ondo Monarch, Wife, Son During Festival

Crisis erupted in Idogun community, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Friday as some irate youths allegedly beat up the town’s monarch, Oba Moses Bakare, his wife, and his son, identified as Victor. The incident, which occurred during the annual New Yam festival, left the monarch injured while his wife was reportedly beaten and stripped half-naked by the angry youths. Though the cause of the attack could not be immediately ascertained, a resident of the town, who pleaded anonymity for fear of reprisal, said some residents had long been at loggerheads with the monarch. The source stated, “The angry youths really assaulted the monarch and his wife and son. We don’t know what caused it but we know that some youths in the community don’t like the Oba; we don’t know why. “If not the swift intervention of security operatives, the matter would have degenerated to a full-blown crisis in the town.” Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, said an investigation had commenced. “The case is under investigation and we are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that justice is served,” the PPRO stated. Tinubu’s Wife’s N1bn Donation Stirs Protest Among IDPs In Benue

Some Internally Displaced Persons from various camps on Wednesday thronged the Makurdi/Laafia Federal Highway and protested the non-sharing of the N1 billion donation made by Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of President Bola Tinubu. Senator Tinubu, who paid a condolence visit to the state on Tuesday, donated N1 billion for the victims of armed herder attacks. The displaced persons stormed the Makurdi/Laafia federal highway, which disrupted the free flow of vehicular movement. One of the protesters, who simply identified himself as Teeser, accused the state government of not giving out several donations it has received from spirited individuals. He said, “Several people, both private and public-spirited people, have been donating for the upkeep of displaced persons, but nothing has been received from the state government. “The wife of the president, Senator Tinubu yesterday (Tuesday) donated N1 billion to displaced persons and the state government is yet to reach out to us. The Information Officer of the State Emergency and Management Agency, Tema Ager, dismissed the claim by the IDPs, saying that no IDP in the state is being starved. He said that the government was constantly providing for their needs. He said, “The major issue that triggered this protest is politics. Simply because the first lady visited yesterday and announced that she donated N1 billion. You know the process of getting this money; sometimes, they just announce it. It’s when they go back that they process it. “What she announced yesterday cannot happen today, and so the money is for resettlements, not for food, and some of them are protesting that they were given money before, and we have not shared it with them. “That money is not meant to be shared with them. The protest was politically motivated. They were supposed to be given food last week, but the event was overtaken by events. “As we speak now, food is being distributed to them, but they protest that the road was politically motivated. The last time food was distributed to the IDPs was in May this year, but currently, food is being distributed to the IDPs across the state. Reacting to the protest, the Technical Adviser on Media, Communication and Publicity to the state governor, Solomon Iorpev, said that the protest was politically motivated. “If not so, the wife of president Tinubu, senator Oluremi just gave the cheque on Tuesday which is yet to be cleared and cashed for the purpose it was meant. Today, IDPs have blocked the Makurdi – Lafia- Abuja high way demanding for the money.” Iorpev said that Governor Alia is keen on ensuring the welfare of the vulnerable groups in the state, and he will be the last person to think of diverting money meant for the less privileged and urged politicians to close ranks to move the state forward. Makinde, Wife Installed As Aare Omoluabi, Yeye Aare Omoluabi Of Akure Kingdom

Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde and his wife, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde, have been installed as Aare Omoluabi and Yeye Aare Omoluabi of Akure Kingdom. The governor, who was conferred with the chieftaincy by the Deji of Akure, Oba (Dr.) Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, in Akure, on Friday, said the honour was a call to contribute to the uplift of Akure Kingdom. Makinde, who congratulated Deji on his 10th anniversary on the throne, promised to continue to strive and do his best for the progress of the kingdom. He said that he would contribute towards completing the Akure Town Hall and the modernisation of the Akure Palace, among other things. He said: “For me and my wife, we are elated for the honour done to us. Wife Of Former Oyo Governor, Tinuade Ladoja, Dies at 71

Tinuade Ladoja, wife of former Oyo State Governor and Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, passed away on Monday morning after a brief illness. She was 71. The former governor’s media aide, Adeola Oloko, confirmed her demise in a telephone interview, saying, “Yes, it is confirmed. She is dead. May God repose her soul.” Until her passing, Tinuade held significant influence as a member of the Pastor-in-Council of the Celestial Church of Christ, the church’s highest decision-making body.
