President Bola Tinubu has ended his working vacation in France and departed Paris for Lagos, where he is expected to hold meetings with political leaders and associates ahead of the 2027 elections. The State House confirmed on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, that the President’s aircraft is expected to land at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, later in the day. Tinubu left Abuja on August 30 for London and later travelled to Paris, where he combined his vacation with official engagements, including meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and businessman Vincent Bolloré. According to the Presidency, Tinubu chose to return through Lagos to honour the memory of the late Chief MKO Abiola, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s democratic struggle. He is expected to attend the October 1 premiere of a movie honouring Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu. The President will also hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates in Lagos as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify. During his stay in France, Tinubu held discussions with investors and business leaders. His engagements included talks with Bolloré Group chairman Vincent Bolloré on expanded investment in Nigeria’s creative and digital economy. The Presidency also linked his European engagements to the proposed $7 billion Gateway Deep Seaport and Blue Marine Economic Zone in Ogun State. Tinubu is expected to remain in Lagos for several official engagements before returning to Abuja next weekend.
