Bobrisky Served Just 3 Weeks Of A 6-Month Sentence In Kirikiri Prison
Nigerian socialite and crossdresser, Bobrisky, has been embroiled in controversy after it was revealed that she spent only three weeks in Kirikiri Prison despite being sentenced to six months for naira abuse in April.
According to FIJ Report, Bobrisky was taken to Kirikiri in April but left after just three weeks, and was officially released from prison in August.
A prison official confirmed to FIJ that Bobrisky received VIP treatment during her brief stay, living in a special cell and being “guarded like a president” The source also claimed that money was involved in her early release, stating “it was an ‘arrangee thing’” .
The controversy surrounding Bobrisky’s prison term has sparked renewed attention to corruption in Nigerian prisons. Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the allegations of bribery and corruption within the Nigerian Correctional Service.
This development comes after social media user VeryDarkMan released a phone conversation in which Bobrisky allegedly confessed to serving her term outside the prison and paying N15 million to have the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) expunge ‘money laundering’ from the charges against her .
Bobrisky’s sentence began on March 24, after Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos found her guilty of naira abuse. The judge had stated that the sentence would serve as a lesson for others abusing the Naira.
The incident has raised questions about the integrity of the Nigerian prison system and the fairness of sentencing. As the investigation unfolds, many are watching to see how the authorities will address the allegations of corruption and bribery.
